About Kenwerk

Kenwerk is a framework in which trade and business and Dutch mbo-schools (VET colleges) work together in the sectors of hospitality, bakery, travel, leisure and facility services.

Centre of Expertise on Vocational Education, training and the labour market
By commission of the ministry for Education, Culture and Science (OCW) Kenwerk plays a central part within the framework of the Adult and Vocational Education Act. This Act demands a good tuning between secondary vocational education and the industry.

Kenwerk increasingly maintains contacts with pre-vocational secondary education and the higher professional education (vertical mobility). In addition we are involved in vocational education in Europe within the framework of mobility and mutual exchange. To this end we work closely with other Centres of expertise. 

At Kenwerk, we are dedicated to an excellent vocational education both in the Netherlands and Europe. In this way we will contribute to an interesting future perspective for young people and healthy sectors of industry with professionally educated people. 

Making the right match
Therefore we are building bridges between education and industry, both on a regional and national level. We do this by enabling and strengthening connections between: 

• student, college and work placement company
• regional educational institutes and the industry
• regional colleges and the industry
• vocational education and the authorities
• pre-vocational secondary education, secondary education and higher professional education

At Kenwerk, we execute tasks assigned by law in the field of:

• practical learning
• maintaining a system of qualification
• assessment and conducting examinations

Register of Internationally-certified work placement companies
­This also involves hosting and maintaining the Register of Internationally-certified work placement companies. This register contains, amongst other things, company profiles, qualifications for which the establishments have been recognised and the proper learning route.
