Work placement is designed to give students an opportunity to acquire practical experience in their field. Obviously, they cannot do this in just any randomly chosen company. There are specific criteria that must be met in order to provide them with the appropriate setting. As a work placement company, you must demonstrate a willingness and capacity to train students. You are responsible for providing students with a safe place to learn the ropes of their chosen profession. You ensure that sufficient time and attention is paid to their training and development. According to Dutch law, students must complete their work placement in a certified work placement company in order to obtain their diploma. 

For starters, you have to be motivated to train students. As far as what we specifically expect from certified work placement companies, please refer to the general conditions. Does your company meet the description? If you answered “yes,” please fill in the online certification application so that we can certify your work placement company.

You can fill in an online form on the “Complaints, tips and ideas” page. Before you do that, however, it is important to contact the appropriate person at the student’s school to discuss your questions or dissatisfaction with them first!

After you submit your certification application online here, we will either approve or deny your application. When your company is approved, you will be automatically added to the Register of certified work placement companies. Dutch students looking for work placement opportunities will see your company listed in the database. Remember, once you are certified you can use our Extranet to change your company details if necessary.

You can use Extranet to cancel your registration. Go to the page that lists company details and indicate the professions (qualifications) for which you previously offered training and no longer wish to be certified. You will also be asked to enter the date on which the change takes effect, and why you no longer wish to be certified. Once we have received this information we will cancel your certified work placement company status and your company will be removed from the online register.

Kenwerk has an evaluation form for you to provide feedback on your experiences with students. We encourage you to fill in this form!

Using Kenwerk’s Extranet you can post your certified work placement company’s openings for students. Your openings will be listed in the Register of Internationally Certified Work Placement Companies and on stagemarkt.nl. Dutch students can find and apply to your listings on both sites.
