Vocational education in The Netherlands

The Dutch system of education offers three levels of vocational education:

  1. vmbo (pre-vocational secundary education)
  2. mbo (secondary vocational education)
  3. hbo (higher professional education)

Kenwerk and the mbo-system
Kenwerk's efforts and expertise focus on the mbo-type of education, (senior) secondary vocational education. Kenwerk has developed a system of mbo-qualifications for vocations acknowledged by the Dutch Ministry of Education. These qualifications involve the sectors for hospitality, bakery, travel, leisure and facility services.
